Do you need a permit to take surveys at the mall?

I want to do a customer survey for a business I want to start, however, my girlfriend said you might need a permit. Is this true?

The mall is private property so you need permission from the mall management to use their property to conduct your survey. When you get permission - make sure to get it in writing so that you won't have any hassles with mall security while you are there.
