How do you find the maximum error???

A local company wants to evaluate their quality of service by surveying their customers. Their budget limits the number of surveys to 100. What is their maximum error of the estimated mean quality for a 95% level of confidence and an estimated standard deviation of 5?

A) 0.9604

B) 0.9800

C) 1.96

D) 5%

How do you find the maximum error???
formule

max error

= z_alpha/2 * sigma / sqrt(n)

= z_2.5% * 5 /sqrt(100)

= 1,96 * 5/10

= 0,98

answer B) is correct

Is anyone else having problems w Turbo Tax making you use the more expensive one?

We have used TurboTax for a few years and used the second choice. We have no investments. This year they won't let us into that one, eventhough that is the one they recommend when we take their survey. We have asked for help, customer support and have gotten NOWHERE. Anyone else having that problem? Did you find a solution?

Is anyone else having problems w Turbo Tax making you use the more expensive one?
You can choose whichever one you would like to buy without restriction online at www.turbotax.com. The software will automatically download.

Unless you have returns from prior years on a different version, then maybe in order for you to roll forward the same information you need a specific edition. Otherwise if youre planning to input all information yourself, then I dont see why you should have a problem.
Reply:Which version are you using: the desktop version or the online version? What's this "second choice"?

Can't see why you can't download the version you want, regardless of what their survey tells you. Try clearing the cache and cookies on your browser and see if that helps clear the decisionmaking. Go back to the front page as see if the selections are available again.

If it's the online version, clearing the cache and cookies on your browser may help there, too. Most people's problems seem to stem from trying to downgrade in the middle of a return, not upgrade. It's not a bug: they just don't want you to use the deluxe tools for free, then downgrade to basic to file at a cheaper fee w/o trouble, so they make you start over and re-enter your info.

Question for air cabin crew: what are the 3 silliest questions/requests you get asked on a plane?

Im doing a survey of customers on airplanes and like to hear about 1. odd/silly/unusual/embarrassing requests and 2. how you responded to them. Thanks!

Question for air cabin crew: what are the 3 silliest questions/requests you get asked on a plane?
Steward: Would you like some duty free?

Passenger: Yes, 500 cigarettes please. Can I smoke them?

Steward: No, you cannot smoke on board.

Passenger (getting irate): Why can't I smoke them? You're selling them!

Steward: Well, Boots (the chemist) sell condoms. Can you use them in the shop?

Passenger: (now laughing) (speechless)

Would you be impressed if 93% of a company's active customers would refer the company to a friend?

I work for a pest control company and according to a recent survey of all active customers 93% of the customers would refer the company to a friend. Is that impressive or not?

Would you be impressed if 93% of a company's active customers would refer the company to a friend?
That is an excellent stat. Now what you should do is present your big boss (those that own the franchise) to capitalize on it. Instead of just saying they would recommend it, make it worth their while to recommend it. Give them a free 1 year check for each person they recommend that has you do their work. Ask them to write up reviews for local papers, and consumer groups etc.
Reply:That's VERY impressive.
Reply:Absolutely! This shows customer satisfaction. I would think that it also means that you know what you are doing. I always try to ask customer opinion when searching out a new vendor.

Are retailers/service providers really concerned with customer satisfaction anymore?

I find that I spend an awful lot of time sorting out problems with my cable and broadband provider/gas and electric company etc. not to mention wrongly delivered goods/incomplete goods etc etc etc. What's more, their so-called customer helplines make being unhelpful into an art form and can be so rude to you, the paying customer. I have to say that things are much the same before they have secured your purchase, in many cases. Have you tried asking for advice in an electrical store recently? Is the philosophy of customer-satisfaction just a token gesture nowadays? Why and how do these companies continue to generate huge profits despite essentially poor consumer-relations (regardless of what their 'surveys' show)?

Are retailers/service providers really concerned with customer satisfaction anymore?
NO they are not, as a whole concerned ,

about us their retail customers .

This is very short sighted ,as we have seen many ,

previously high, profit making businesses,

that are

are now going "to the wall"

Because of their cavalier attitude to the customers

It is a competitive world and eventually people ,

rebel against this off hand treatment

and take their custom else were ,

for better service and support

Then the huge profits made,

from their poorly served customers ,

will fall and they will be no more .

When we are treated ,with this contempt and indifference ---

We should all "vote" with our feet !!!!!

%26gt;^,,^%26lt;
Reply:todays "free trade" society is obsessed with products of all kinds. most people feel pressurised to have most products because it is "cool" or "socially acceptable" to have them. in the capitalist world this means that many more products are becoming essential like water, electricity and food. this means companies can charge you whatever they want and not worry about customer service as much. that s my hate fuelled explanation anyway!!

lol!!!
Reply:"Customer service" seems to be a euphamism for damage limitation for when things go wrong.

The only reason large companies with poor customer relations make big profits, it that people put up with poor service and take it for granted.

I do not. If I get poor service and am dissatisfied, I vote with my feet and take my business elsewhere. This applies to all businesses; banks, shops, utility companies, transportation, you name it. If more people did this, the bad companies would go bust in no time.
Reply:Well rocket, there may be many explanations...many reasons...

1.In countries where there are lots of competition in an industry and the service industries are matured, firms try to differentiate by providing high quality and thats why due to competition its not true that such costs will also charge more...they provide quality to survive......But in cases where the service industries are not so mature, they don't have to bother about customer.....its demand and supply game.. they supply and demand is already there...who cares about quality?

2. In some cases even in matured markets, some firms provide so cheap low cost versions that they don't provide quality and they explicitly state that in their communications to customers.

3. Still if they claim to provide high quality but are not providing it, its is the management problem. Such firms in mature markets in long term will lose customers always.

Now pick up your case.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM?

If your case is no.3 and you expect high quality- shift to another firm or if switching cost is high then complain and keep on complaining to the top management. If its a good firm they will listen or else drag them to the consumer courts.

MANY A TIMES BECAUSE OF OUR DIDN'T MATTER attitude even good firms don't provide what they claim. But, once they understand that customers too have power they will be more responsible towards customers like you....

Let me know your view......
Reply:I think it depends on the store. One place I buy music from has got such great staff I travel 20 miles to go there rather than the one in my town. Some places are really strong on customer service.
Reply:It depends upon their marketing strategy. Quality retailers who do not sell on price will invest in customer satisfaction and provide the back up this needs. Outlets that sell by tying to be the cheapest will strip their costs to the bone employing pushy spotty faced salespeople who will tell you anything to sell you anything.

How do i get rid of this computer virus?

A telephone company is planning a marketing survey of its 760 000 customers.?

For budget reasons that company wants a sample size of about 250.

a) Suggest a method for selecting a systematice sample.

b) What expense do you think is most likely to limit the sample size?

A telephone company is planning a marketing survey of its 760 000 customers.?
a. 760000/250 = 3040. Arrange the customer list alphabetically. Sample every 3040 th name.

b. Salary expense of people surveying the customers.

I recieved a customer satisfaction survery from the post office today... any idea why?

It just seems strange they would send this survey. This is the first time in... well, my whole life, that I have ever gotten one of these. Do you think there could be a problem with my postal carrier?

I recieved a customer satisfaction survery from the post office today... any idea why?
No, it's a random survey.

Is this a scam?! How can I find out if it is? The place is called ELITE SURVEY. Here's the story...?

I saw an ad in the newspaper under the employment classifieds for a customer service evaluator. I went to the website and filled out something and summitted it. I can't remember the website, can't find it, and I don't remember what I filled out. Lol. Then, three months later I recive a check in the mail for 2595.00. I am suppost to keep a 100.00 for myself and the rest is to send a money gram to Canda. Then fill out a survey and fax it along with the amount of hours I can put in. The check is valid. I work at a check cashing place and know how to valid any check. I called the number on the paper work they sent and they said they have offices in America, but I called the Canda one. And said pretty much everything that is on the paper work. It also said if this assignment goes good and no problems happen, they can sent three to four assignments a week. It seems too good to be true, but at the same time, the check is very real. Are there any obvious risks I am missing?

Is this a scam?! How can I find out if it is? The place is called ELITE SURVEY. Here's the story...?
I have heard of this. You will deposit the "real" check in your account and then you send the money gram. Later the check comes back as bad (check takes a week or more to clear) but you have already sent the funds in a money gram that has been cashed and you are the one who is left to cover the loss.

Maybe I'm wrong but that's what it sounds like to me.
Reply:I would cash the check and just hold the cash for at least 30 days to make sure if necessary, I could repay it. I definately would not cash it and send anyone anything. More than like the check (if cashed) will be debited from your account as stolen or something. Cash it at your bank and wait for a couple of statements to come in and maybe (not likely) you will have couple of grand to play with (don't count on it)
Reply:Here is a fantastic company that will allow you to work from home. They pay a bonus of $100 to $1000 each week. Their services are marketed in 180 countries this is an exciting company to join free. visit http://www.exlr8.ws watch the flash movie

I was wondering if anybody knew what a legal payroll deduction is when you work for a tow truck company?

My boyfriend works at a tow truck company. They have a contract with AAA. AAA sends surveys out to their customers to evaluate their opinion on the overall service that they received. The owner of this tow truck company wants to take the surveys and if it does not come out as a customer is 100% satisfied then he wants to deduct $75.00 from their paycheck for every negative survey he has faxed to him.

I was wondering if anybody knew what a legal payroll deduction is when you work for a tow truck company?
No, he can't do that. I would suggest to him he give a $10 or 20.00 bonus for all 100% satisfied survey!

Some people can't find the Forrest for the trees!
Reply:The owner can't do that. That's illegal. I should report his scamming butt to the IRS.

Transfering multiple cell info to a word document?

I have a customer list with over a 1000 customers. Row A has name, B has address, C zip code, D phone number, etc. I also have a word document that has a heading for Name, Address, and Phone, its kind of like a personal survey but for customers and we just want an automated process rather than hand writing everything. Is there a way to take, like a macro, to take the info from the spread sheet and put it onto a workd document and have it print each one?

Transfering multiple cell info to a word document?
Word 2003

When in word go to Tools then Letters and mailings then Mail merge and then follow wizard
Reply:You can use letter merge in Ms Word. In Word 2007 it in Mailing %26gt; Select Recipients %26gt; Use Exciting list
Reply:Create the macro by copying and pasting the information from Excel into Word for the first line of data. Then open the macro information to confirm how the system has written the macro, then amend it to continue to run the macro for each line of your Excel spreadsheet.

For anyone who runs an interior design/decorating business, can you please help me by filling out a survey?

I have to do some business research regarding the business I wish to one day run for my business class in high school. There are several simple questions on it such as types of insurance you have, how you accept customer payment, and emergency plans, etc. It is an emergency so If anyone will please take the survey for me I'd greatly appreciate it. If you will take it please email me at bradfield@zoominternet.net

For anyone who runs an interior design/decorating business, can you please help me by filling out a survey?
Wow that person didn't answer any of your questions. That isnt very helpful at all, and it pretty much seems like they copied and pasted it off a decorating website. Sweet deal. Call Jodlbauers. They should have someone that knows a little bit more about it.
Reply:You want to gently bridge the white and the colors together. I would try bringing in some varying tones of white, light tans and off whites. Try to do this with natural materials, such as wooden candlesticks something weathered, keeping the fossil stone table in mind. They can be small for an end table or you can get larger ones that would sit on the floor, put them in a nice grouping. For the centerpiece, I would add a very simple classic vase, add fresh flowers as often as possible. For the rugs I would look at sisals and needle points, both types lay very flat to the floor. Sisal is a very neutral grass like rug. It will complement the Pergo flooring very nicely. Needlepoint's are just that a needlepoint. They can be a little expensive but look around you will find something affordable. This type of rug will have more color than a sisal, but the colors are usually muted.

Alternative Energy Survey - What do you think?

1. Do you believe the government focuses enough attention on alternative energy?

2. Should the government focus more money and legislation towards improving existing energy sources or alternative energy sources?

3. What do you feel is the biggest concern regarding alternative energy? (Cost/Efficiency/Emissions)

4. Should the government put price limits on gas?

5. Do you believe that alternative fuels would increase the prices of materials used to make them?

6. Do you feel that the government should cut other spending and use more money to research alternative energy sources and fuels?

7. Do you feel that the government should offer tax deductions to businesses that use alternative energy sources and fuels?

8. Should the government mandate that gas stations offer alternative fuels to their customers?

9. What type of home heating do you use?

10. Have you thought of using an alternative form of heating in your home? If so, what?

Alternative Energy Survey - What do you think?
1. No, I don't think the government focuses almost any attention on alternative energy except to pacify us.

2. I think its imperative that the government do something to improve our energy crisis, but I am very pessimistic about that ever actually happening.

3. My biggest concern with alternative energy is... cost.

4. I really wish the government would put a limit on gas prices! I read in the paper that it was going to be $5 by July where I live! Its sickening that the oil companies profits are so high and we allow it.

5. Yes, I believe the materials used for alternative energy will be more expensive. In Mexico corn prices have risen tremendously because the corn is being sold for alternative fuels.

6. I think the government should focus spending on the energy problem in America, and quit focusing on the oil in the Middle East.

7. I definitely feel the government should offer tax breaks and other incentives to anyone who is making a large effort to conserve energy.

8. Since not all cars can use the alternative fuel, I don't think it should be mandated that every station have it, as it would probably only raise gas prices further.

9. My house has a swamp cooler for cooling, and we use a pellet stove in the winter.

10. We set the temperature of the home's heating very low and wear sweaters, use blankets etc.

2. Yes

3. Cost

4. They should regulate the big oil companies from gouging Americans. It's not the gas station. Record profits equals cutting the throats of the public.

5. It would.

6. Yes

7. Sounds good.

8. I think they should require at least one Hydrogen pump at every gas station in five years.

9. Electric

10. What else is there that is cost effective and readily available?
Reply:The government should be using more forms of nuclear energy and start teaching this generation facts about nuclear energy. To many people only think about nuclear bombs. These are two separate things. All our Navy vessels use nuclear energy.
Reply:Since many homes have 2 cars one of them should be electric (look up Hybrid Technologies). The electric car would be used going back and forth to work every day and the other could be used for the weekend longer runs or trips. Everyone using an electric car to go to work every day would save an enormous amount of fuel in a years time
Reply:1. No. But more importantly, I don't think they focus enough on renewable energy.

2. Focus on limiting coal and oil, improving alternative energy, and subsidizing the research and implementation of renewable energy.

3. Initially, cost, as it costs more to install and change systems to alternative and renewable energy. Efficiency is a concern, but there are some amazing new power plant systems that are being tested in other countries, and they will come to the U.S. eventually. Emissions is a concern from some of the alternative energy, but almost all alternative energies are still better than coal or oil.

4. No price limits. Let the prices get outrageous and force the implementation and use of renewable energy. In terms of environmental and energy policy, the U.S. historically reacts to such problems with favorable policies.

5. Of course, but in this capitalistic market the prices would equalize and competition would take it's course. The prices of solar panels prove this concept. Look at California for examples.

6. Increased subsidies for companies that are making strides in these endeavors would be the most prudent measure. Rather than putting money towards research, the Fed needs to put money into switching government buildings across the country to "green" energy.

7. Maybe some subsidies for alternative energy, but definitely higher subsidies for renewable energy.

8. Sure.

9. Auto thermostats with Natural gas.

10. I'd like to see fuel cells become a viable home option.
Reply:1. No, I do not believe they focus enough attention on it.

2. I believe they should do both. They should try to better what we already have. Make it cleaner, more accsesible ect...

But they also need to spend more time coming up with better, cleaner, and more efficeint ways of using any new energy source. I believe they should really focus more time on solar power, wind power of hydroelectric energy sources.

3.The biggest concern. Well, cost would be an issue, but I think the biggest issue would come from the population. Trying to get everybody to use more effiecient power sources. I have seen that many states have alternative energy methods such as windmills and solar panels available with benefits to the person who uses them, but most people are set in there ways and do not want to spend the time or money to convert to more efficient methods.

4. Definatly. I believe it would then make large company's look for more efficient ways to use their resources so that they can still make a profit.

5. At first possibly yes. But then as more people use the materials and the demand stays high, eventually the prices would go down.

6. Yes. But they should really look at what they are cutting their spendings on. I also think the people should have a say in it first.

7.Yes. It would be a great incintive and some states already offer some deductions to help people get started.

8. Maybe in the future when there are more alternative fuels available, but not at first. Wait until things stabalize more.

9. At the moment electric, but we are considering either putting up a windmill for our own use, or solar panels to help suplement the energy we use. Our goal in the future is to live "off the grid". We do not want to depend on anyone for our needs.

10. See above #9.
Reply:There are a lot of questions here and it is late so I will by pass most and say this. I think the government should set strict regulations on businesses for air, land and water protection. I feel the government should enforce the regulations, even if it is funded through local authorities in each community. The guidelines have to be set nationally.

As far as heating my home. I would prefer Geo thermo heating and if I build another home I will seriously look into it. I have natural gas forced air heating now.

I do not think the government should fund or offer tax incentives to business to make changes that are environmentally friendly. I believe that can be done by means of stricter regulations and stronger penalties for pollution violations. Tax payers as a whole should not have to pay businesses to do business in an environmentally friendly way. That should be done for good customer relations by the businesses themselves.

I do believe the government should give more money to education. We have to make institutions of higher learning available to all.
Reply:Clearly the government is NOT doing their job as far as US energy policy. If we cut back the US consumption of oil by about 50%, we could not only be almost 100% self sufficient in producing our own oil, the bottom would drop out of the price of oil world-wide. That alone would effectively defund most of the cash used by terrorists and provide a HUGE boost to the economies of almost every country in the world. Hello dot com days to the stock markets across the world. How would one get this to happen? By getting real with energy policy. For example:

1. Sure we can use "sticks", like extra taxes on fuel hog cars/trucks/etc, but with carrots too. Give the owner of any car (mostly hybrids) that gets better than 40 MPG (EPA rated) a $1,000 tax credit for every year the owner has current tags and insurance for that vehicle. So even if hybrids are $5k more, eventually if you keep it you will get paid back for the extra expense. If we added a nickel a gallon tax for the only purpose to fund these credits, this would be revenue neutral for the government for quite a few years.

2. Mandate new construction homes have a minimun of 2,000 watts of solar panels on the roof if the location is sunny enough to justify their use. It would only slightly raise the mortgage payment and would reduce the utility bills more than it increases the montly mortgage payment. Make similar requirements on new commercial construction. We are told that the infrastructure for our power distribution system is old and greatly in need of upgrading at many billions of dollars. Power users will ultimately pay for those upgrades (that's us). If we mandate more solar where appropriate, we can significanltly delay those upgrades as more and more of us will be making our own power and not require getting it from the power grid. This would also make power failures like California had less likely. Peak loads are always during the day when you just happen to get peak sunshine, right? I have a 2,000 watt system on my roof and my electric bills are about $20/month now.

3. Mandate efficency standards for all appliances sure, but don't forget the little stuff, such as the power adapters we use for a thousand different things. Digital switching power supplies use far less standby power than the old style ones and cost perhaps a dollar more, worth the cost. Insist anything people plug into the wall have as little standby useage as truly required. (Think DVDs, stereo, TV, computers, clocks, cordless phones, etc.) Just remember that for every kilowatt you use in your home, the power plant had to produce 3.3 kilowatts to get it to your house after taking transmission losses into account.

4. Build more nuclear power plants from the latest designs available and standardize them so construction costs are lower. Provide incentives for power companies to build them instead of being a roadblock to limit them from being added to our power grid.

5. Provide higher long term credits for power companies and home-owners and businesses to add solar (photovoltaic) and wind power to the power grids nationwide. More construction would include these things if they were sure that the owners would get a credit when construction is completed. Many projects take years to complete and who wants to risk that 1/2 way through the project congress cancels the credit? If more of these systems were purchased, the prices for them would drop due to higher (mass) production.

6. Mandate minimum levels of insullation on existing homes and provide assistance to low income to help them comply to the higher standards. Poor people would benefit a lot if their utility bills dropped by 50%, wouldn't they? Rich guys don't need to care how much they are paying as they have the cash to pay the bills for power and heating, but no-one should be allowed to be "too wastefull". I don't care if you think you need a 10,000 square foot home, but at least make it energy efficient of even self sufficient if possible.

This is just a start, but many different solutions make sense. There is no one magic bullit, but taken as a whole, many small improvements can get us there. Demand your goverment do more than it is doing now, which is little more than nothing. Write your representatives and suggest some things to them and if they don't take action, boot them out next election cycle.

2. Alternative. Existing sources already get too much money. If it weren't for government subsidies, a gallon of gas would cost several dollars more than it does now. The government subsidies and tax breaks keep the cost of our petroleum fuel quite low.

3. Public education and cost.

4. They already do in a way - see my answer to #2. They pay for security of refineries and tons of other costs that don't get passed on to the consumer. These costs aren't factored in to the REAL cost of petroleum.

6. How about just not giving themselves (Congress) a raise one year?

7. Absolutely - just like they do to oil companies.

8. No, government intervention in the private retail sector would not be ideal. Give the subsidies to the users who will create the demand, and the retailers will meet the demand.

9. Passive solar with high efficiency heat pump back up, solar hot water heating.

10. Yes, already do, and I have a PV solar panel system for electricity as well. We also use rainwater in our toilets, but municipal water for consumption.

7.no i think that the goverment should engourange more bussiness to use alternative fuels but they should use that money for more research

Does anyone know of any good software for creating surveys?

Part of my job is to create surveys for our customers to complete. I am looking for software that has an easy to use wizard for creating surveys I can post on the web. I just need the basics but the more customizeable it is the better. The software should also be able to gather the data for and if it can prepare reports from the data that would be great. Software should be freeware or low cost since the company won't spring for it. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Does anyone know of any good software for creating surveys?
sorry I've got nothing...

What is the graph and what are the domain and range?

In most businesses, increasing prices of their product can have a negative effect on the number of customers of the business. A bus company in a small town has an average number of riders of 800 per day. The bus company charges $2.25 for a ride. They conducted a survey of their customers and found that they will lose approximately 40 customers per day for each $.25 increase in fare.

What is the graph and what are the domain and range?
You have a point (2.25, 800) and a slope of 40/-0.25, or -160. The slope is a rate of change - if you lost 40 customers per $0.25, then your slope is 40/-0.25.

To find the equation of the line, use the point-slope formula:

y - y1 = m(x - x1)

y - 800 = -160(x - 2.25)

y - 800 = -160x + 360

y = -160x + 1160

The graph will be a line starting at (0, 1160) and going down with a slope of -160. The domain will start at 0 - since the x-axis represents money, you have to exclude negative numbers. To find the rightmost value for the domain, find the x-intercept:

0 = -160x + 1160

160x = 1160

x = 7.25

So your domain is [0, 7.25]. The range will be [0, 1160] - 0 for no customers, 1160 from the y-intercept.
Reply:Income is number of riders times the fare, I = RF. Let x be the number of $0.25 fare increases. Then I = (R-40x)(F+0.25x), and our intial values of R and F make our equation I = (800-40x)(2.25+0.25x). This is a parabola that opens downward, crossing the x-axis twice. The left x-intercept is the situation where the Income is 0 because the price has dropped to 0. The right x-intercept is the situation where the Income is 0 because the fare is so high there are no riders. What makes the problem an easy one, not needing calculus, is that the parabola is symmetric with respect to a vertical line through its vertex (max value), and that means the line of symmetry is exactly HALFWAY between those x-intercepts.

So, solving 800-40x = 0, the right intercept is x = 20. Solving 2.25 + .25x = 0, the left intercept is x = -9. Halfway between, x = 5.5. So the max income is 800(2.25 + 5.5(.25)) = 1800 + 1100 = 1900.

Since negative Income makes no sense, domain is -9 ≤ x ≤ 20 and range is 0 ≤ I ≤ 1900.
Reply:ok. so their income right now is 800 x 2.25, cuz 800 customers and 2.25 each. once they change it, say they increase it by 0.25, their customers would be (800-40) and their money per person would be (2.25+0.25). so then their income would be (800-40)(2.25+0.25). say they increase it again by 0.25 again. then their income would be

(800 - 40*2)(2.25 + 0.25*2). and if they increased it again, then income is (800 - 40*3)(2.25 + 0.25*3)

so if you made x=number of times they increase it, then their income would be given by

(800-40x)(2.25+0.25x)

now if you multiply that out using FOIL, you get

1800 + 200x - 90x - 10x^2.

so if you wanted to find the graph of this, you have to complete the square.

-10x^2 + 110x + 1800

= -10 (x^2 - 11x -180)

= -10 (x^2 - 11x + 30.25 - 30.25 - 180)

(30.25 is half of 11 squared)

= -10 (x-5.5)^2 - 2102.5

so the maximum would be when x=5.5, so the increase would be 5.5 * 0.25 which is 1.375 or $1.38.

the domain would be all x, since x can be anything.

the range would be y%26lt;5.5, since the maximum is when x=5.5 so all other values have to be less than that.

another way to graph it is to find the x intercepts, which are the roots of (800-40x)(2.25+0.25x) which means x = 800/40 = 20 and x = -2.25/0.25 = -9. and then find the y intercept, which is when x=0, so its 1800. and then differentiate the function (take the derivative)

-10x^2 + 110x + 1800 to get

-20x + 110 and set that to 0 to find where the function has a maximum (youll get x=5.5 again). and ya.

anywayz, hope that helps. laterz
Reply:The range is the what ever goes on the y-axis for example if in a graph you are going by 10 the range will be 10 20... and domain is the x-axis.
Reply:i'm not sure about the domain and range, but the graph is, in slope-intercept form, y = -.25x + 1160, i think.
Reply:The Domain is the number on the graph that is the x-variable, and the range is a y-variable. Like when you have an ordered pair (3,-2) then the three is the domain and the (-2) is the range.

I want to start clothing store how should i survey the market so that i no the demand and supply status?

I AM STAYING IN OMAN AND PLANNING TO IMPORT DESIGNER CLOTHS FROM INDIA NOW I WANT TO START A RETAIL STORE BUT AFRAID IF I CANT FIND ENOUGH CUSTOMER KINDLY ADVICE ANY WAY TO FIND PRATICALLY WHAT PEOPLE DEMANDS IN LOCAL MARKET.

I want to start clothing store how should i survey the market so that i no the demand and supply status?
Some companies online sell this type of information but it can be expensive and they may not have info for your location. You could get some friends to help you do quick street surveys to see how people would react to the types of products you are planning to sell. Also pay attention to other businesses in the area and see how well they are doing. If others have tried it and gone out of business, then it might not be such a great idea for the area. Also make sure there aren't too many stores like you are planning already in the area or find a way to differentiate yours from theirs through something special. You could even ask some stores that are similar to yours about their businesses. Not everyone will want to tell you everything, but some can be really helpful. I had to get this type of info for some of my college business projects.

There are also actual people called business analysts/advisors that will research this for you and advise you on whether to do it or not.
Reply:Find a merchant's association. They usually have a good idea of the demographics of the area. See if where you plan to have your shop fits with those characteristics of te kind of customer you want.

A well defined customer profile helps you know the place to advertise, locate your store, product lines to pursue and many other business decisions.

I worked for a cash register company and saw the marketing posters for customer profiles for a clothing store here in the states. They had two customer profiles that I remember. One was called "Mimi Mimic." she was the kind of woman who would buy the clothing all her friends bought. Trendy, stuff that she saw im magazines. The other was "Penny Paycheck." She was on a budget looking for nice clothes for work. Both were young, say 15-25, thin, not much in that store was for larger women, though today, people are bigger so they would probably have more big sizes.

If YOU are the target customer, profile yourself. That's a starting point. Now ask yourself, if there are enough people who think and act like you, to buy your imported garments.

Good luck. Business is fun.

What is this new preoccupation with FEEDBACK, SURVEYS, and customer satisfaction requests?

I order 12 books from Amazon and the sellers want 12 feedbacks. I order from Ebay and literally get harassed with reminders from sellers if I don't send feedback. I get emails from Microsoft for my customer satisfaction on their help. Do we all have ego problems these days or what? I don't have time for all of this homework! What is this phenomenon all about? Should I just send out a huge mass email and tell everyone they did a good job, now leave me alone? How can we block requests for feedback? This is like expecting us to send thank you notes when we have already said thank you in person. Life is too busy these days for more than one thank you for the same thing!

What is this new preoccupation with FEEDBACK, SURVEYS, and customer satisfaction requests?
Your so right... I wish that I had the answer for this problem, but all I can tell you at this time Is Delete...Delete...Delete...

Many transcriptionists get their training through a course of study while others carry their medical terminology knowledge with them from other health related fields. You would need to get the terminology down, and then get started. Many companies want experience so there's a catch-22. However, doctors and hospitals may be hiring, and after a time you can work from home as many transcriptionists do.

Gosh that would be really nice...I would be so appreciative of that... Do like an item for each room of the house...Maybe include.....Bottle of wine or champange and glasses or flutes (kitchen) and some gourmet cookies or crackers.....A couple of gift cards to local coffee shops or specialty stores....some scented candles or potpurri (bedroom, living room)..... Maybe a few garden items like flower seeds or bulbs (yard/garden) Oh, great idea...New address labels. That would be cool...If I think of anything else I will add it on.

Reply:I don't know about luxury apartments, but when my wife and I bought our house (first and only one so far) about 10 years ago, our agent arranged to have a really nice dinner delivered to us the first night.

It was a very nice and thoughtful thing to do, because as she knew (and we didn't!), we ended up spending the whole day moving stuff in and figuring out what would go where and all that -- we didn't think we'd get so wrapped up in it. And then of course, we didn't know where to go to eat locally! So having a great dinner brought to us was just what we needed.

The other thing she threw in which may be standard but was still a nice touch, was a roof-to-basement home warranty for 2 years, including all apliances etc covered. The first year or two in a new place, a young couple is already going to be strapped for cash. Taking this worry off our shoulders was really thoughful -- especially as the darned furnce DID develop a problem the first winter, so we just called the warranty company and they sent someone to fix it and paid for the whole thing. Very nice!
Reply:Super idea, I worked as a Realtor for years and my clients alwa ys loved them. Try putting Washcloths folded nice also soaps shaped in different shapes, bubble bath, different things a ladie or man would like for bath. Also I did some with kitchen supplies ,if you know there color scheme !!..what they like such as apples, fruit, fill up a fruit basket that's always went over big because they would be hungry as they were moving and it was easy to eat without a mess.
Reply:Things like candles, gift certificates to local places, etc.

Why do people keep buying them?

Last nights Top Gear featured the results of the latest J D Power customer satisfaction survey. The largest indepentant survey of it's kind. This year the 6 worst cars were all French. Everone knows they are cr*p, people who buy them say they are cr*p, so how come so many of them are clogging up our roads?

Why do people keep buying them?
Well that sounds like the Honda problem over here. Everyone with any common sense knows there junk. But they keep buying them than brag it's the best thing on the planet.I guess they can't admit they were wrong.
Reply:You seem to be forgetting that Honda won Car and Truck of the year for 2006. Hondas have consistently been recommended by Consumer Reports, have the highest residual resale value according to Kelly Blue Book, and have always been on or at the top of the 10 best cars list. Report Abuse

Reply:That Gary K guy sounds like a UAW member that cannot or will not face the facts. I've seen SO many closed minded people like him. I'm also in the UAW (United Auto Workers) At a aerospace firm. Report Abuse

Reply:Modern cars are so reliable, that even the worst 6 are still considerably more reliable than a typical PC - or any car from 30 years ago.

French cars offer a lot equipment, and are often good value for money, but they generally sell on style - if you love the look of the Renault Mégane, then a Golf, Focus or Corolla is simply too dull.

However, sales of most French models have been falling recently, partly because mainstream brands are losing sales to the budget brands (Kia, Skoda, etc.) and premium brands (Audi, Mini, BMW, etc.), and partly because some of the key models are now some of the oldest in their segments (C5, Laguna and 307 especially), so are losing out to newer models (Passat, new Civic). The two French models that have gained significant sales recently are very new - the Clio and the 207.
Reply:May be the price?

Or someone don't know much about it??
Reply:There are always people who want to drive a unique car, regardless of it's reputation. They will do it again and again.

"I don't want to have a car that looks just like all th others"

Then, usually, you reach the age where you want the best value for your hard earned dollar, and you finally realize why certain cars (like Hondas, Gary K.) are so popular: they are the best value for the dollar.
Reply:You will find a lot of people become attached to a car and overlook its faults. This can extend to other cars by the same manufacturer when the time comes to replace.

Regarding the TG survey - most of this data is customer perception and dealer satisfaction, meaning a brilliant car with a minor fault and an uncaring dealer will score badly. Also people have a vested interest in saying their £60K sports car is great, but won't hesitate to slate a £14K runabout.

Regarding French cars in particular, they have been at or near the head of the market for diesel engine technology for a while and Citroen have gone back to quirky cars to stand out in the market, meaning the kind of person that buys a C4 coupe is the kind of person who will put up with niggly faults to have that car.

Disclaimer - I drove a Citroen BX16TRS for 3 years, my current car is a Citroen and the next will be. I'm not blind to their faults, just cheap!

You have been appointed as Director Quality Improvement in a large Health Maintenance Organization. Your 2004 customer satisfaction survey (CAHPS) shown members being dissatisfied with accessibility and quality of care provided. In addition the (HEDIS) Preventive studies have shown results are below the benchmark in Annual Eye exam screening for Diabetes patients (members). It is now your responsibility to proceed with improving the Quality within your organization. How will you proceed?

You have been appointed as Director Quality Improvement in a large Health Maintenance Organization?
Walk down to the VP of provider relations and ask why the network is deficient and ask if a "wrap" network is in place and if so, why aren't the enrollees aware of it. If your members have a lot of hoops to jump through to access care, talk with the Medical Directors about removing a few.

If the annual diabetic retinopathy eye exam screening is a covered benefit (it might not be), ask the Medical Directors for a budget to do a post card mailing to the target patient group. A phone call, post card a monetary incentive and then a followup call should be enough to improve this metric.

How will you proceed?

by improving the problem areas. See why the Annual Eye exams are not up to standards and find a way to fix it. I would contact the customers with diabetes and do a poll. Also, see how you can improve the accessibiltiy and quality of care. Why is it a problem... You need to get some good people that care to work for you that can help you find the answers and are willing to help turn things around.
Reply:Statrt teaching your people better excuses to why people aren't going to get the coverage.

Pretending to want to fix health insurance, spend more money...you must not be in the states......

Maybe when we called we didn't get the stupid voicemail hell that takes us everywhere but the place we want. Or the even dumber voice recognition stuff that takes you out of the country if you sneeze at the wrong decible. Or people who don't even speak our language making it impossible to understand and translate exactly what our problem is. Yeah..it happens ALL THE TIME.

Maybe sending out reminders to the insured who need the eye exams (age range/coverage needs). Ya'll have all the other info on file so I know ya'll have that too.

Don't deny healthcare payments or tests when people really need it. You aren't a Dr, atleast not one that you indicated so what qualifies you to decide what I need? Stay out of my medical decision making and just pay the d@mn bill since I have payed you faitfully for over 12 yrs.

Sorry it's not technical but the technical people don't know what we are pissed about. They aren't docs either.

You can't change the quality of care unless you come down on the docs but you can change YOUR quality.
Reply:I'd start with an independent assessment by a consultant which should define the problems, measure the scale of them and suggest ways to address the problems and how to measure their success.

I'd consider getting in touch with Alan Clarke, head of the UK Deming quality group at the CQI in London to kick off with.

Once you have a report and action points then prioritise them for the quickest gains (from the customers point of view)... quick gains are important when you are changing a culture.

Trigee fills me up; Caster oil empties me out. Saltpeter... I'm afraid to try.
Reply:[It's "Castor oil."

As is my wont and obligation. I brought this to the attention of the Board of Directors of the Poetry Section, Division of Unctuous, Oleaginous, and Orotund Discourse. They recommended I undergo a surgical procedure that involves the removal of the cranium from the anal sphincter.]

You continue to improve your ability to use this form, which I am told was concocted by a crazy Marine in Kansas. After a tornado hit him in the head with a cow, he decided to write a different verse for each coast.

I would 1st hold a meeting with each department that was below appropriate customer satisfaction levels and brain storm in 2 areas. What are we doing wrong and what can we do to improve it.

The second group I would want to talk to would be the customers and see what we did right and wrong.

We would put a plan in place to be above standards in Annual Eye exam screening for Diabetes patients (members)

What does icsc in relation to customer satisfaction surveys mean?

International Council of Shopping Centers Gauges State of Retail Industry with WebSurveyor

The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), the global trade association of the shopping center industry with 54,000 members in more than 80 countries, decided to launch a survey series to measure the business sentiment of industry executives. ICSC needed a solution that would allow it to gather monthly responses from hundreds of industry executives in the United States. Traditional survey methods like paper and telephone surveys were just not fast or convenient enough to follow the rapidly changing shopping center environment.

Is it really important ? Why

What is the essence of 'Customer Survey'?
Customer Surveys are very beneficial to you as a business owner. You can find out how the employees of your company are perceived by your customer. You need to sent it to a representative segment of your customer base to make sure that its not just a couple of customers are unhappy. There are many companies whose business is to consult with you the business owner on how to best find out what your customer is thinking. You would be surprised how much either a very satisfied customer or a very disgruntled customer will tell you. You can see if you are being responsive to their needs and expectations. You can see if they have any outstanding issues that are making them unhappy but can be quickly resolved, etc. etc.

How can I score a 10 on customer surveys?

I work in tech support and people call me everyday and ask for help and I didn't score high enough like I want on customer surveys this month (scale of 1-10, 10 being the best). I need a customers opinion to improve my performance so I can get better survey scores. This affects my bonus, so please be honest, I'm tough, I can take it, but please be brief, I just need advice not your whole bad experience story (we all have those stories). Thank you for your honesty.

How can I score a 10 on customer surveys?
I also work in tech support so i know how it is.

I don't know about your job but at mine this is what they look for. Being polite, no long silences, If you have to look something up make pleasant conversation. also never tell the customer to do something ask them to. like "could you please unplug your cable box". Never leave them on hold for a long time 30 seconds is to long if you are still looking up something come back on the line. and ask if they would be able to hold longer. if not offer to call them back in a reasonable time frame and make sure you do. also just being friendly and polite. I try to build a rapport with my customers. and joke around with them.
Reply:Be as poliet as possible. And while dealing with them you might want to get something to squeeze or a pencil to draw with so you dont over react and blow up. Also, no matter what they do always try to act calm and collected and not affected by their behavior. It in the long run should help you. Maybe you should try to get them to calm them down a bit if they are on the brink of losing it so you can talk calmly without them yelling in your ear and you being forced to yell back.
Reply:Be very pleasant, somewhat personal but not too personal, I enjoy it when there is someone who asks about my day or comments on "the weather up here", make them think that the problem they are having is your problem, too, by being very understanding. Good luck and here's hoping for a big bonus!
Reply:???

Do you have any idea why your scores were low?

Always be pleasant, and professional.

Actually help the person.

Never make them feel like a dummy, even if they ARE being clueless.

Actually help them solve their problem.

I don't know whether the people who call are native speakers of the same language as you, but, if you have a strong accent, try to learn to speak so your customers can understand you.

Actually help them solve their problem.
Reply:Always speak clearly and slow enough that you can be understood, be empathetic, try to visualize their problem and ask direct, simple questions. Most people appreciate clear simple answers that don't make them feel like a fool. Try to establish a rapport with your customer so that you can solve their problem quickly and in a timely manner. All customers appreciate feeling like you are there just waiting for their call and they are the reason you got up today-to help them. So make sure that they hang up feeling that way. And smile while you talk. It translates itself over the phone and helps make a situation more bearable-because they wouldn't be calling if there wasn't a problem-but you are the guru there to make it all better so make them feel better too! It will work out in your favor!!
Reply:Try smiling while talking. It will make you sound very friendly! :) Good luck, I hope you score a 10!

Why are Cable and Satellite TV comapnies Evil?

I think it's kind of funny that the same terrible service exists regardless of which company you choose. It's quite telling that they rate worse on customer service surveys than airlines, when airlines start out with the disadvantage of holding people hostage by canceling flights.

So what is driving these companies to be so evil?

Why are Cable and Satellite TV comapnies Evil?
Rectal Warts... Lots and Lots of rectal warts
Reply:The love of money is the root of all evil. It's all about money and power. Remember also, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

How would this company estimate the percentage of people in the U.S. who use electricity to heat their homes?

The utility company wishes to estimate the percentage of people in the U.S. who use electricity to heat their homes. Past data indicate that 154 out of 700 customers surveyed used electricity to heat their homes. If the company wishes to be 98% confident to within 3%, how large a sample would be needed?

a. 516

b. 733

c. 854

d. 1036

e. 1266

f. 1503

g. 2066

h. none of these

How would this company estimate the percentage of people in the U.S. who use electricity to heat their homes?
.03 = 2.575*sqrt(.22*.78/n)

.03/2.575 = sqrt(.22*.78/n)

.0116504854 = sqrt(.22*.78/n)

.0116504854^2 = .22*.78/n

n = .22*.78/.0116504854^2 = 1264.239167 = 1265 (e)

Has anyone else had problems with cingulars customer service?

I've had the worst experience with their service, they never fixed the problem and would not refund my money. Reporting them to the FCC didn't help. I can't believe there's any truth to their commercials that they have the fewest lost calls. Who paid for that survey?

Has anyone else had problems with cingulars customer service?
yes i have had a very big problem with them i had purchased a phone for my daughter when she was 17years old with a year contact . i give her permission to call about the phone if she had problems but when the contact was over which i wasnt aware of they like her without my permission renew the contact but couldnt provide me with any thing stating it was ok for her to do that i asked them to put the bill in her name now that she was 18 and working they refuses she messed up the bill now they are coming after me when i didnt renew contact she did without my permission with other company they had to speak to the first person to agree to renew anything the main person has to sign or give vibal permission. thats my bad experience with customer services plus other people kept telling me they would switch then they said it couldnt be done wouldnt refer them to anyone.
Reply:In the past, that's why I'm with SunCom now.
Reply:Yeah- I switched plans and they cut off my service for a day, which made me miss some important calls and pictures.
Reply:I work for their tech support... anything I can help with... have no control over billing but maybe i can help with the phone?
Reply:you must read your contract. There is a clause that states (paraphrasing) "If you give your personal account validation information to someone, they can access and make changes to your account just as you can."

How would you go about surveying potential Customers?

I have a business idea, and would like to get opinions on what customers are looking for in the industry of Family Entertainment, and Party Halls. Are there companies that I should use to ask these Q.s or do I just go "out to the streets" with Questionnaires.. Thanks.

How would you go about surveying potential Customers?
Usually Harris Poll does it for companies. I'm not sure how but if you stand in the streets or mall some people would go for it but other wouldn't want to.

I am doing a survey for Old Navy and The Gap?

on thier web sites,

How is the customer service provided on this sites?

What is the target market for this sites?

Do you feel that refrences groups influence the buying behavior of shoppers at these sites?

I am doing a survey for Old Navy and The Gap?
Customer service is a big part of Gap Inc's online sites. The company refers to all of their brand websites (Gap.com, Old Navy.com, Banana Republic.com) as "Gap Inc Direct".

The websites offer as much information as possible, leaving little opportunity for unanswered questions that an online user might have. The main areas of customer service on the website are: explanation of shipping costs and methods, how to go about returns/exchanges, store locator, size charts, and accessing personal account information (for placing orders or checking your credit card statement). Links are provided on the websites for contact information - by mail, email, or phone # in case there are any problems placing an order, or if a customer has a question about the merchandise.

The target market for the websites is probably the same target market for the stores. However, older people may not be familiar with, or may not be trusting of purchasing items online (for technology reasons, or for security reasons). I can't say for sure what the actual target markets are, but a good estimate would be: Old Navy: females age 15-30, males age 18-30. Of the female group, there are probably a lot of mothers with young children that do online shopping. For the Gap: males %26amp; females age 18-40. (these are my educated guesses).

I'm not sure I understand the wording of your third question. But if you are asking that if someone refers someone else to shop on the website, does it influence buying behavior, then the answer is yes. For people that are hesitant to shop online (for whatever reason) but they know someone who has done it before and the experience was pleasant, then it may have an influence on that person to try online shopping.
