As a pizza delivery driver, how can I improve my tips?

I have been working for Domino's Pizza for five years. I have only been nasty to two customers in my memory, and they had it coming. I'm always friendly and smiling, and the pizza is almost always there within half an hour and in good shape. We're putting out surveys with every order right now to ask the customers how we're doing, and mine always come back postive to the utmost, but still, tips are drying up. What can I do that I'm not already doing?

As a pizza delivery driver, how can I improve my tips?
As a former driver and a present costumer, you should know that it doesn't truly matter what you as a driver do. Your tip is predetermined(in most cases) before you even make it to the door. Most people order out in order to get a quick meal w/o the hassel of getting in their car. You are the middle man. If you are lucky, you get a good tip(probably someone who's been in your position). If you want to make more money, look for a promotion, or a better paying job. Good luck.
Reply:It does sound as if you're doing everything right. Do you have regular customers? Do they like sports? My husband greets the delivery guy at the door and the guy says "I've been working, how's that Niner-Raider game going?" and then my hubby tells him and they chat and my husband tips a little extra. It's that personalized service we appreciate.
Reply:It sounds like you are dong everything you can to earn tips... I think it depends a lot on the clients, how wealthy they are, how generous they are feeling, if they have been drinking (usually they tip well!), and if you have caught them on a good or bad day.

Good luck!
Reply:As long as you're there quickly, friendly and most important of all, make sure the order is complete and correct! That's all you can do. Maybe you just have a cheap bunch of customers! I usually tip mine about $4 for a $21 dollar order. I think that's decent.
Reply:I always tip more when the delivery person is friendly, appears neat and clean, and reads the order to me before handing me the pizza. I don't like opening it while they're standing there to see if it's right, it feels rude. Also, if it arrives fast, that makes me want to tip more, but I know it's not the driver's fault usually if it takes a long time.
Reply:My favorite delivery guy is from a local Chinese restaurant. The first night I ordered food, he went to the wrong end of town. He called me to say what happened and that he was having the order remade so it would be hot when delivered. He showed up with both the first and second orders as much to be nice as to prove that there were two orders cooked. Ever since, it has become a joke when I call in an order. He always shows up with biscuits for my dogs and a fresh take out menu. He is one of the most pleasant people I know and I wouldn't think of tipping him any less than the 20% I give to regular in-house waitstaff.
Reply:be faster? but seriously dominos for 5 years, maby its time you got a better job
Reply:More small talk, more personality.
Reply:fast, friendly and with a smile. make sure you brought everything that the customer asked for like extra butter or cheese.
